Its time for the biggest party in Florida at Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras. This New Orleans celebration takes place nightly till April 7, 2018. Dazzling entertainment, authentic food and of course one spectacular Mardi Gras Parade, complete with flying beads make this event one of a kind. Guests can catch some of the biggest names in music genres like country, pop, rock, R&B and more. Concerts and shows take place at the Music Plaza stage across from the French Quarter Courtyard. Catch artists like Phillip Phillips, Jason Derulo, Fitz and the Tantrums, Foreigner, Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Bush and many more on select nights during Mardi Gras.
Soulful performances from New Orleans help visitors experience New Orleans history of being the birthplace of true American music. French Quarter Band deliver signature sounds with real Louisiana jazz, blues and zydeco. Bands include Naughty Professor Brass Band, New Breed Brass Band, Young Pinstripe Brass Band and Dirty Bourbon River Show.
The French Quarter Courtyard
The French Quarter Courtyard opens every day at 4pm and is where guests will find all sorts of New Orleans style Food and Drinks. Add some spice to your day with some Cajun jambalaya or some shrimp gumbo. There is also red beans and rice to help fill your appetite. Grab an authentic taste of New Orleans fare and make sure to save room for dessert, Universal is serving up sweet melt in your mouth beignet, a warm doughnut covered in powdered sugar.
Throughout Mardi Gras guests can watch street performers, stilt walkers, and dancers in colorful costumes and then at select times every night guests can catch one of Universals most exciting parades. The Mardi Gras parade is full of life as performers make their way down the streets of Universal with phenomenal floats. These floats were created by Kern Studios, they have been creating authentic Mardi Gras floats in New Orleans for over 60 years. That’s not all as parade takes place tons of strands of beads are tossed to guests. Its one wild time as everyone wants to catch some beads and join in the fun.
A special viewing area has been created for kids, this helps insure an unobstructed view of the parade for younger guests. The Little Jester’s Parade Viewing Area can be found in front of the Brown Derby Hat Shop. Guests can grab a spot one hour before the parade starts. There is also a special viewing area for American Express Card holders and Annual Pass Holders.
